Evolutionary economic geography in Central and Eastern Europe

The Centre for Economic and Regional Studies of Hungarian Academy of Sciences is pleased to announce the workshop on „Evolutionary Economic Geography in Central and Eastern Europe”, which will be co-organized by International Business School Budapest, the Doctoral School in Economics of University of Szeged, and the Hungarian Section of European Regional Science Association.
Evolutionary economic geography (EEG) experiences a dynamic boost, in which an inter-disciplinary mix of geographers, regional scientists and economists apply new concepts and tools to describe regional economic dynamics. The case of CEE (Central and Eastern European) countries is particularly interesting, because –due to major political transformations and economic lag– CEE regions might follow different development paths than those with more advanced economy. The workshop provides an overview of the EEG concepts and quantitative tools and a platform for young CEE researchers who aim to contribute to EEG literature and understand complex regional dynamics of economic progress.
